EX-1: Health & Safety in the Workplace
Duration: 1/2 day
Aims – To provide an overview of the safety requirements, relevant to the injection moulding industry.

EX-2 Single Screw Extruder Design and Construction
Duration: 1 day
Aims – To provide an overview of the extruder design, functions and extrusion principles.
- Machine Components
- Understanding the operations of the Extruder
- L:D Ratio
- The relationship between screw and barrel
- Shear and Direct heat Transfer and Effect on Plasticising.
Outcome – improve the understanding of all aspects of the single screw extrusion machine to improve overall utilisation and efficiency.
EX-4 Die Head designs, fitting and tool care
Duration: 1/2 day
Aims – educate attendees on functional design of appropriate die heads / crossheads, their care and maintenance:
- Types and variations of die head design.
- Inserts and die plates.
- Checking for wear and damage.
- Good housekeeping. How to store tools correctly.
- Cleaning flow surfaces and dies.
Outcome – reduced down time caused by poor tool maintenance, increased longevity of tool life, instil a duty of care mentality of asset protection, improved productivity due to less tooling issues.

Duration: 1/2 day
Aims – attendees will learn the following aspects as to how quality impacts the business;

Duration: 1 day
Aims – to provide an understanding of safe start up and shut down methodology.

- Identify Machine Controls and Check Barrel Temperatures.

- Identify and Check Die Head and Tooling.
- Identify Necessary Hand Tools and PPE.

EX-7 Principal function of 3 stage screw
Duration: 1/2 day
Aims – To gain an understanding of the 3 stage screw.
- Function of the extruder screw.
- Feed Zone.
- Melt / compression zone.
- Metering Zone.
- Screw Compression Ratio – explanation and how it is calculated.
- The Importance of getting it right.
Outcome – Provide understanding of 3 stage screw design and compression ratio in order that personnel can understand effect on different material types and grades.
EX-PD5: Extrusion Moulding Training – Basic Understanding of Pastic Materials
EX-15 – Materials Level One – Basic Material Concepts
Duration: 1/2 day
Aims – Provide a basic understanding of polymer materials
- What are Plastics, and where do they come from.
- Uses of Plastics and the Diversity of the Plastics Industry.
- Classification of Plastics Materials.
- Understanding Material data sheets, level 1.
- Simple molecular construction of plastics materials and Polymerisation.
- Drying and Handling requirements.
Outcome – improved material handling, reduced scrap, increased basic polymer knowledge.
EX-16 – Materials Level Two – Polymers and Additives
Duration: 1/2 day
Aims – increase the knowledge of attendees with respect to different polymer families.
- Homo-Polymers, Co-polymers, Ter-Polymers, Blends and Alloys.
- Amorphous and Semi-Crystalline Plastics.
- Intermediate Molecular Structures of Plastics.
- Incorporation and need for Additives.

Aims – To increase the knowledge of material handlers with respect to Safe Purging and the correct way undertake the purging process and the risks to be avoided.
